  Compatible Mini DV decks

  Our editing station at my place of work has just recently upgraded to Media Composer 5 with a complete new computer to go with.

  Everything was as required by MC5, although we were intending on using our current Mini DV player/recorder (Panasonic AG-DV2500)

  We can not get MC5 to recognize the deck (although our old version of Avid was able to use it for the past 5 years just fine). I’ve manually set it as the deck of choice in the settings/preference tab (this Panasonic deck is in the list) When opening the capture tool it just indicates “no deck”.

  As part of the back-drop to this story, when we first recieved the system it was installed with Windows XP 64bit (I assume to take advantage of all 12 gigs of RAM) but read that this was not a compatible version of Windows for MC5. We still installed MC5 and was able to use the Panasonic with it, but experienced choppy playback and audio problems. Figuring it was the compatiblity with Windows 64bit we upgraded to Windows 7 Pro 64bit. Now we can’t see the deck at all. Anyone have any suggestions?
