Compatibility Question…..1GB minimum on DVD Recordable Discs
Ever since I can remember I have always been able to check
that compatability box in Nero or PrimoDVD that makes a DVD writer
write at least 1GB of “dummy data” to a DVD-+R if your video_ts
is not equal to or larger than 1GB.Its my understanding this was done so that players that do not recognize a
recordable DVD if it has less than 1GB of data, would have no problems.I still use ReelDVD and Nero and PrimoDVD, but I’m also now using DVD Studio Pro on a mac G5 and burning Discs with DVDSP or Toast 7 titanium. Neither of these have that “1GB dummy data” option. If my video_ts contains 45mb of data, thats what gets burned only.
So my question is this:
Does it really matter any more to have at least 1GB of data on a DVD-Video Disc?
Have any of you found some secret buried setting in toast or dvdsp that makes it burn that 1gb of dummy data?
any input is much appreciated.
