    Hello,
The studio I am working for used to edit on FCE4. They just bought Final Cut Studio but, wanting to save money, bought the one that included Final Cut pro 6! It turns out that FCP6 does cannot open FCE4 projects.
Do anyone know of a way around this or do they simply have to buy the upgrade to FCP7 (which works with FCE4 projects, I checked)

    thanks!

You could export an EDL from FCE, import it into FCP6 then recapture/ reconnect the material using the offline media in the browser? Bit of a pain, but will save a bit of money…

“It turns out that FCP6 does cannot open FCE4 projects.”

This is incorrect. Make sure you’ve updated to 6.0.6. It will open any version of an FCE project.

There is no EDL or XML export from FCE, BTW.

    All the best,

    Tom
