    hello,

what is the keyboard short cut that will perform the following command:

i select a clip in the sequence then when i hit this key board short cut it highlights the source clip in the browser opening the folder even. it’s not match frame (f or shift f) which will load the source clip in the viewer. i use to use this short cut all the time in fcp 4.5. thanks for all your help

Shift F ain’t doin’ it? Works for me.

You got your head wrapped around auto-select yet? 🙂

Match Frame is auto select sensitive. So first things first.
Auto select the proper track and then strike Shift F.

That’ll get you back in the zone.

I think what Shane would like (and I would too) is something like Avid’s Find Bin command. Shift F in FCP is the Reveal Master Clip command but it seems to be very dependent on what kind of clip you have selected as to whether it will reveal the master clip or not. In Avid, no matter what kind of clip you have in the viewer, you can always use the Find Bin command to go right to that clip. It’s very handy.

Shift F works exactly like Find Bin. You just have to have the track auto-selected.

Often on my system it doesn’t. It often seems very dependent on what type of clip you are trying to reveal. Strangely, master clips seem to work less often than subclips. I don’t understand why it doesn’t work consistently and I do have the proper auto-select on and I have watched this feature for a long time. My old Avid workflow of a quick match frame and find bin was always very efficient and I’ve wished it would work that same in FCP for a while. Don’t get me going on the FCP match frame as I’ve always felt that was very inefficient as well… compared to Avid. But of course they are different edit systems. if we could only get them to combine the best of both …….
