I’ve totally filled up my timeline with blue vertical command markers for closed captioning. Is there a way to do a “hide markers” so I can more easily do more editing.

That would be a great option which unfortunately Vegas doesn’t have. There is a caution there as well… Further editing could change the placement of the markers so you need to be very careful and probably do want to see them while you’re editing so that you don’t change anything that would affect their placement.

I wouldn’t do close captioning until the project was complete and ready to print. Normally you do a final render and send that off to be captioned. Even if you are doing it yourself, I would wait until just before the file render to caption your work.

Oops! OK. Good advice. Will wait to do any captioning until I receive back from the finish editor the changes.

You could get old waiting for finishing editors to finish. 😉

Hey, I found a solution for you:

    1. Go to Edit | Details (Atl+6). This will bring up the Edit Details window.
    2. Select Command from the drop down and you will see the details of all your command markers.
    3. Select the top left corner and the whole table should be selected.
    4. Type Ctrl+C to copy the selection to the clipboard
    5. Open a spreadsheet and paste the marker information

You have now saved all the marker information into a spreadsheet and can safely delete all of the command markers from the Edit Details window.

When you want your command markers back, open your spreadsheet, copy the marker rows and paste them back into Edit Details.

One caveat I see here is to be sure and save your project under a different name before making any changes that will give you a headache later.

On this end depending on the amount of CC work it is a far more economical saving of time and money to send it out instead. I’d bet you are spending almost as much time doing that as you did editing.

It’s just a consideration of what works for you. I don’t care for all that work personally.
