    Thanks..this all takes me back to learning FCP1.2 from scratch in the UK …once you know something it’s oh so simple but until you do it seems impossible.

    I hope I remember it!

    X operates differently than anything else, for sure.

    The real trick is learning how the primary storyline moves, and what happens to connected clips when the primary moves/shifts/clips get deleted.

    Then you learn about the various containers in Compounds, Audtitions, multiclips and the like. How they operate in an Event, how they operate in a Project.

    That is what I find to be the very basic mechanics. It goes a little deeper than that, of course, but once you understand how the primary “works” you start to grasp some of the FCPX methodology. After that you go fill out some feature request forms over at apple.com.
