Coming from FCP, what are the Premiere equivalents??
Alright, I got a cam where Premiere plays nicely with the footage it shoots! (no transcoding) so… now I’m taking the time to learn it.
Can the community help me with the laundry list of things (I’ve been kind of working a little, then journaling my issues…)
ONE) Renaming the actual files in the Finder via the NLE
I often rename imported clips in the bin and then choose Mark > Modify and Rename File to Match ClipCan I do this in Premiere?
TWO) The WORK AREA vs I and O (re: timeline)
In FCP, I used I and O (IN THE TIMELINE) to dictate what I might export (or edit)In Premiere, I can set In and Out points using the same method. But then what.
In order to export a specific excerpt, I use Option- [ and Option-] (to set the beginning and end of my “Work Area”)
Then I use Command-M to open AME (Adobe Media Encoder).… soooo…. what’s the I and O good for in Premiere if I just use the Work Area??
THREE) HEAL a CUT
FCP: I can actually select the cuts! And where ever I see red “bow ties” I can right-click and choose “Join this clip back together”but in Premiere, there’s not a way to “select” cuts… So how do I heal a cut?
FOUR) Moving clips around — Video and Audio together
In FCP, Video and Audio “Mirror” each other as they are moved around. In Premiere, the default behavior is different. The Vid and Audio are “Linked” but one can still raise a Video track to “Video 5” all while its linked audio track REMAINS right on “Audio 1”
Is there a way to get Premiere to act the same way?
FIVE) View Audio in the Source
FCP: Your audio associated with the clip is on the next “tab” once it’s loaded into the “viewer” …
I don’t know what I did… I know that I’ve viewed my audio (that is link WITH video clips) in the “source” panel… but somehow I must’ve disabled something… I couldn’t get to it.Ok, that’s a fairly long list. Good for now… I try to keep this up as I use it and run into ??’s
Thanks in advance.
