Come Fly WIth Me – Intro
Hi guys and gals!
I just saw the intro/vignette for the TV Show “Come fly with me”, and I was wondering how to go forward to create this effect in After Effects!

They have a camera rig which can follow the same path. First they shoot their actors in normal motion, then they slow the camera path down to film many people walking past, then they speed it up so it’s equal to the first clip in speed.But how do they then blend it together? Is it so easy as just masking them, or is it a more technical way involved? I’ve been using After Effects for five years so I know my way around, but I just can’t seem to understand how they did it.

It is probably a motion controlled rig. Technodolly maybe?
For the actors they most likely used a small green screen behind them in the scene. This allows you to key them out quickly because you really only have to rotoscope the edges of the greenscreen itself. And to clarify, it’s a greenscreen used on-set behind the actor who is interacting with the real location, and not shot separately in a studio.
