  Combining widescreen footage and 4:3 footage

  I have a some footage shot with widescreen and some other shot 4:3. I want to combine both in a widescreen project. I tried editing the 4:3 footage and then converting it to widescreen with UltimateS, but am not sure what project settings to set before starting and what settings to render out to.

  My theory was that I would edit the 4:3 footage, use the UltimateS ‘Convert to widescreen’ tab, then render out and bring the resultant AVI into my widescreen project. I have tried rendering out to both normal ‘PAL’ and widescreen PAL but neither result looks right to me.

  Can anyone help me with the exact steps to follow and the exact settings to use at each step?
