combining two rendered files using sony dvd architect studio 4.5
Posted by Doug Wittenberg on September 5, 2012 at 2:20 amI rendered a 1 hour and 10 minute video production in vegas 9.0 into two 35 minute segments because vegas kept shutting down before i could render it as one file. I am now trying to put the two rendered files back together in DVD Architect Studio 4.5. The DVD menu will allow me to access both segments separately, but has anyone tried to combined two rendered files like this that can be played together as one file?

September 5, 2012 at 9:23 amWhy not place the two rendered files back in Vegas and
do a final render combining them. If they are already in the
MPEG2 format, there will be no recompression.Steve Rhoden

September 6, 2012 at 11:56 amSteve’s suggestion of rendering in Vegas Pro should work to combine them with no re-encoding. If it doesn’t there is a tool called Womble that will stitch together MPEG2 files without re-encoding them. It’s a handy tool to have in your kit.

September 6, 2012 at 2:32 pmThanks Steve. As you suggested, I went back into vegas and combined the two rendered files. When I ran the new render it took only 12 minutes! I’ll be using that little trick in the future for sure. I completed the 70 minute project last night, and it looks great. Thanks again for your help.

July 4, 2015 at 10:46 amHi Steve,
I read you post with interest. I have just had an error in the last 20 minutes of a 7 hour render !!!The movie clip M2v file has been created, just missing the last few minutes of finished film. I have rendered out that missing portion, and planned to bring both files into a fresh timeline, re-renader a new file. But, vegas won’t let me place the files on the timeline (I’m using vegas 12 pro). Any suggestions?
Thank you.

Are they HD or SD? Try Womble MPEG editor. It has saved me on several occasions.

July 5, 2015 at 10:42 amHi John,
They were HD 1920*1080 ready for creating a blu-ray. I like Steve’s idea too, its been an issue now and again – bit like when there is a small error in the middle of a film that needs correcting, and therefore a complete re render. I guess you could just re render the corrected segment – and create a playlist in DVDa.

Playlists pause as they change videos. Do you really want your video to pause in the middle? I don’t think so.

July 5, 2015 at 5:06 pmHi John,
No, i would want a pause or stall – so that won’t help.
Is there something I’m doing wrong then – because the m2t files defiantly won’t load onto the vegas timeline – if they did that would be fantastic, and would help no end.
Regards Martin

I thought these were M2V files from the MPEG2 Blu-ray render? There is no reason why these should not be able to drop back onto the timeline. It works for me. You need to solve this problem because it should work.
