    Hi all,

Is there a way to combine multiple splines or take 1 spline and subtract that from another spline ?

For example. Say I am trying to make a Film Reel. So I make a large circle spline. Then I make 3 small circle splines. Can I take the small circle splines and make them cut a hole out of the large circle then use an extrude nurb to give it depth ? If so how do you do that ?

Or is this not the way to go about it. I tried making the extrude nurbs editable but the faces of the circle don’t have any editable points.

    Thanks for your help.

take your splines put them where they need to be, make them editable, select them all, select Functions/Connect. This will produce another spline which contains all the bits you connected, toss that into the ExtrudeNurb

If you have Mograph you can also use the Spline Mask object to do boolean-type operations with splines. Why it wasn’t called “Spline Boolean” is beyond me.

Thanks guys. I will try it at work Monday Brian. I was trying to use the Functions/connect but I didn’t make the splines editable.

Thanks as well Adam. I wish I had Mograph. I have the base package. Just Cinema 4d with no modules. Since I have to learn the basics of the program I couldn’t get the other modules right away. If we get a project that I can use a module I could probably get it put into the budget of the spot. I am still actually using 9.6 too.

Thanks again. I for some reason I can’t get it to work on Monday I will be back.

YO i just figured it out, idk if i’m mad late but, after u Function>Connect the spline, u can take the 2 points that you want connected and go to Structure>weld.. I’m kinda happy i just found that out. LAterr

Yes, there is a way to combine or subtract splines. Just create the necessary splines and put them in a “Spline Mask” as children. You can tweak the setting from there.

I know I am responding after 4 years but someone else might want to know. I hope this helps :]

Why it wasn’t called “Spline Boolean” is beyond me.

I guess it is because a boolean is for 3d (volumetric) objects and a mask is typical for 2d objects??
