Combining a three part (80 minute) FCPX project into one. Smart or not?

This is my FIRST post to the CreativeCOW net. Here goes…
I have a question about combining 3 parts of a FCPX project into 1.When starting out my 80 minute FCPX project I found that I had to break it down into three smaller projects (Part 1,2 and 3) so that I could get the project background rendering to work properly.
I learned this by trial and error.
My edit studio consists of 2 computers, both using FCPX on Mac OS X Version 10.7.5.The laptop, that I travel with is a MacBook Pro 2.4 Intel Core i7 16 GB, 1 TB drive (750 GB free) and my other is a iMac OSX 3.4 GHZ Intel core i7, 16 GB, 1 TB drive (750 GB free).
I store all of my footage on a G-RAID 4 TB Thunderbolt.
So now you know my set up.Now I’m hoping to put the 3 parts of my project back together into 1 project file timeline.
Can someone please tell me the best way to do this?

Just copy-paste the three parts into a new project/timeline.

Great! Easy enough! I did that before to make the 3 individual projects,I just didn’t know if that was the right way to do it. I think I could also move them in as a compound clip and then break them apart.?

Hi Terri,
I think your methodology is a good one. Create a compound clip from each of your 3 projects and then edit them into a new project. You can then either break them apart or leave them as they are and if you need to make any amendments open them into their own timelines.
Which ever way you do it you will find that the new project will need to re-render which, at 80 minutes, could take a while.
I have just used this method to combine 7 programme segments into one.
