    Hi everyone,

I’m working on a personal project that will be combining 480i footage from the Star Wars DVDs (AR of 2.35) with live footage from my Sony SR11 @ 1440x1080i.

I have tried starting up a 1440x1080p project in PP CS3 and “scaling” the 480i footage to about 132%, which gets rid of the 2.35 letterbox and zooms in the picture to fill the entire frame. Of course, this looks pretty bad in final renders because I’m taking a 480i source and blowing it up so much. I’m also using After Effects to do silly stuff like key the 1080i footage

My final output will be SD DVD. However, I figure it would be nice to have a project created in a high quality in case I decide someday to also output it to Blu Ray. I’m pretty familiar with VirtualDub and AVISynth as I have been using it to deinterlace the 480i footage. My questions are:

Should I just be making a PP CS3 project at 720x480i to begin with?
If yes, how should I handle the scaling of my 1440x1080i footage?
Should I bother converting the 480i or my SR11’s footage to Progressive?
Any other tips or advice for my workflow?

    Thanks in advance!
