  • Combing older DVD’s into new one

Most of my projects have just been videos’ of our holidays. Since the latest had so many extras (all our stills, itinerary, travels details, travel brochure etc DVDA told be that the file size was 7.8GB. Not wanting to compromise on quality I decided that it was time to install a new dual layer burner since the quality should have been better than squeezing it onto a single layer disk. Once the dual disk was created just for curiosity I used DVDShrink to shrink the file size down & re burned onto a single layer R/W disk. Neither my wife or myself was able to see any difference in quality at all. Perhaps our older eyes aren’t as good as they should be. Just for the hell of it I took the file created by DVDShrink & shrank the file once again down to the smallest it would let be. This time we could both see the difference in quality. Both of us were surprised that it wasn’t worse than what we say, since it appeared to be about VHS quality.

Well finally for the question. My wife was wondering that now we have the dual layer burner would it be possible to combine several older holiday DVD’s onto one disk. Some of these older DVD’s didn’t have much in way of menus. In some cases we would only have the DVD itself so it would be a case of getting the old VOB files onto the time line, adding chapter points. Some of our old projects are still 100% available on hard drive complete with the DAR files. Is it possible to open a project in DVDA & then insert another older DAR file along with the apprpriote media files, somehow into the project in much the way I understand VEG files can now be inserted into Vegas. Alternatively if all the necessary media is in DVDA could the existing menus be cut & pasted in the new project?

    Thanks in advance
