Over the past few years I have made several DVD’s using DVDA, of various overseas holidays. The other day the wife asked it it would now be possible to combine some of these into a new DVD now that it’s possible to get twice as much when using dual layer disks. I know that if I still had ALL of the original MPEG2 files, AVI’s DAR files etc I could probably create a new first play screen & drop the other menus onto it. Unless I’m badly mistaken this is one idea what could never get even started. Is this an accurate assumption or not?

You cannot simply take two DVD’s and combine them. You will need to get the actual footage back into the computer some way. You can do this either by ripping the DVD back to an AVI file or MPEG2/AC3 file(s) or you can simply capture by playing the DVD through your convertor and capturing normally. Then you’ll have re-author the DVD.
