is there a way to label an entire comp with a colour in the timeline, so that the tabs are different colours? when i have a lot of comp tabs in my timeline, i find myself spending a lot of time flipping between comps, and a lot of time searching for the tab i want to flip to! if i could colour some of them it’d be much easier.
i guess i could close some of them, but then i’d spend even more time opening and closing all my nested comps.

Nope, can’t do. Still, you might want to minimise your overhead by closing all unnecessary comps. If your project window is organized well enough, it’s easy to find them there and open them again if needed. Personally I hardly make use of the tabs anymore. Either I browse the project window or open nested comps using Alt+Doubleclick.

One way to help organize multiple comps in the Timeline window is to create new Timeline windows for some of the comps that you want to group together. Just drag the comp’s tab to a blank spot in the main window. Then drag more comps into that window if you want.

Well, you can colour them by using the little colour button in the project window. Make the project window wider to see it. However, you can only see the coloured tab when the comp is selected in the timeline.

Time for a feature request. 🙂
