  • Colour Grading Proxy View or Original?

I am a beginner with Final Cut Pro and I am looking to colour correct some of my GoPro footage, to add more saturation etc. I was wondering, is it best to do the colour correction viewing the proxy or the original?

I found the graphs showed a slightly different view, as when I did all the colour correction on the proxy I got the highlights and shadows perfect on the line, as soon as I changed it to original the highlights were too strong and the shadows too dark.

Yep, you got it. Color correct the original, at the highest quality setting (Better Quality vs. Better Performance). Then you know you’ve touched the same thing that will be used at export. Proxies are best for efficient editing.
