Colour Grading a Scene with Fades (in Resolve Lite)
So I have one montage scene in a film I’m working on that has transitional wipes intermittently throughout. They’re burnt-in/there’s no time for me to retrieve the original clips and get the editor/VFX guy to redo the wipes, so there’s no way of me to properly colour grade each clip in the montage.
Now I’ve been using Davinci Resolve Lite on my iMac and the best solution I could come up with is to divide the montage as best as I can, colour grade them, and then do some sort of cross dissolve between each clip. But for some reason, when I try to use Resolve’s cross dissolve it won’t let me place it in between the clips. Not sure what I’m doing wrong.
BUT if someone out there has a better solution please tell me haha. It’ll be much appreciated.

You need to put a cut in the middle of the dissolve then drag the dissolve transition you want over the cut and it should drop in. Once you do that you may need to drag the dissolve sides out to cover the length of the dissolve.

My guess is that you’re still in a ‘master timeline’ where the padlock cannot be altered. Got to conform page, create new timeline and have your dissolve fun in it!
