Colour difference between Motion project and exported file

Yes I see,
I did the same thing. The thing is that when you bring the exported file back into Motion, the lines disappear. I’m not sure how to export it correctly.

Its called banding you just need to add a little noise to it.
depending on what version of motion you are using changes how to fix it.
I am on 5 so i do this

In stylise drop the add noise on to the background. then in the inspector change the noise type to blue noise (reduce banding). turn off auto animate and make the noise monochrome and your done.

In other versions of motion i think there is a filter called reduce banding.

I forgot to say change the mix down till you can hardly see the noise. in my opinion background are better with a bit of noise anyway because other then glass or water everything has texture so if you want you graphics to look more real al ways add a little noise.

Hey this is what the lines are. Its all to do with the amount of bits in the colour channel apparently. All i know is it looks better with the noise on it.

Hi,

So using noise for solve the problem means a quiet long render time..
But rendering to Motion Graphics/QuickTime Animation preset in Compressor I get the original result.

So this is the best but a 50 sec. file will be more than 9 Gb!!!!!!!
If I compress to a H.264 mov file the strips are there again.

I simply can not believe that there is not a normal way to solve this amateur problem….

It’s a result of the compression in the codec – that’s why you don’t see it when using Animation, as it’s essentially an uncompressed codec – which is also why it’s so large. I would try ProRes 422, which is much lighter than Animation but still essentially uncompressed. It really depends on your final delivery target what codec you should use.

So let me share the best way what I found until now.

Motion 5 -› export in current format (ProRes 4444) -› import to Final Cut Pro X (or Motion I think), where the lines disappear -› export in Uncompressed 10-bit format -› with Compressor to ProRes 422

This way I get the best (Animation format) result but in ProRes size.
The 54 sec movie in Animation format more than 10 Gb.
in ProRes 650 Mb.

BUT,
Is it impossible to get lighter size? I can not upload it. For Vimeo it is to large, and YouTube hardly deteriorates the quality..

I can not believe that just that’s it. No way.
I have to ask you what about the other programs. Do this lines mean problem in AfterEffects also? Or is it the problem of H.264 format?
