Is it possible to use a Video FX to colorize text … as opposed to setting the color within the text object itself?

Sure why not. It’s a video frame just like any other frame. Try Color Balance or Sepia for a start. Remember that the text is Black and White so any FX that “modifies” colors (like HSL Adjust) will have no effect because there is no color to “modify”. You need to use FX that “add” color.

Thanks John. I had tried Color Balance but couldn’t get the colors to match exactly. Color Balance uses values -0.500 to 0.500 so I was using Excel to convert RGB 0…255 values but they didn’t match up. Sepia on the other hand, seems to work nicely.

Gr8! Yea, Sepia is really good for colorizing and the name throws people off because they might think it’s only for creating sepia tones. Glad that worked out for you.
