  • Coloring a masked object.

    Hi everyone,

I shot a still basketball (multi-colored ball) on a blue screen and masked it with the intent of using it similar to the rolling ball in the Indiana Jones segment in Raiders of the Lost Ark. The problem is that I can’t get it to a color or texture that I want. Without painting (something I am horrible at) does anyone have any suggestions? The problem is that the dark color of part of the basketball shows through on most things I’ve tried. I thought that there would be a way of coloring a mask totally but so far I am dead in the water. The effect should be funny rather than life like.

    Thanks,

    Wally

Without seeing a picture its a little hard (whining, now).

On the basketball layer have you tried Levels (Individual Controls) – Maybe up the Red Output Black (under the Red twirly).

And Shadows/Highlight if the dark spot persists.

Then maybe some Hue/Saturation to get the colors right.

All of the above are under Effect>Adjust.

Thanks, I guess I’ll just have to play around a bit with the basketball.
