Activity Forums Adobe After Effects colored “smoke”

Not sure if even particle illusion would make that so well (but I haven’t used it so much to definitively say that). I’ve heard of other particle simulation programs (you’d have to search the forums for their names… maybe the Maya forum) that would do that well, but in that example the smoke and water could have actually been shot on a high speed camera… I’m not sure.

    Very cool though!

It looks like they filmed squirting a colored liquid into a clear liquid. Some of the leaders at the top have done this kind of stuff with black dyes into clear water, I think, to get those liquidy mattes, like in X-men.

It could have been done with a 3D particle system, but if you made me guess, I’d say colored liquid into clear liquid, and filmed at high speed.

I have even seen some good effects created with a glass baking-tray, some food dye and a digital still-camera. Use eye dropper for liquid. Then just take photo after photo.

To do it really nicely though you’d go down the fishtank and high-quality camera route.

unfortunately i don’t have a high-speed camera and i think i wouldn’t get such good shots…but perhaps there are some other ways to create such effects….

Didn’t AEflame make this kind of stuff?
