I’m looking for some information on doing a Color Trace, and what is and isn’t possible. (never had to worry about it before now) I have a project coming in with waaaaay too much source footage. The final project will be about an hour long, but will have two different broadcast versions. Source footage is all over the map, including R3d, F55 and others. I was hoping to consolidate the media to DPX to limit the amount of storage needed to color the show. If I was to do this, i am assuming the cut down version of the show will lose all reference to the original version of the show. In essence i would have to go through and find the changes myself and copy grades manually. As i’ve said, i’ve never done a color trace, so i’m not totally sure what methods it uses to track shots. Simple file name and timecode or something more elaborate?

    Thanks for any information
