i’ve seen this quite a few places now, most recently on an HBO show montage. the video pauses and bands of color from the main focus of the image stretch out toward the edge of the screen. it looks like a vertical single pixel selection that is being stretched but i haven’t been having much luck getting it to look right. also, it seems that this can be done in 3D as well. anyone have any tips on how to do this?

    Do you mean something like:

Transition > CC Scale Wipe ?

    or Pete’s Plugin > Smear ?

Pete’s are Freebie, and smear is one of the best in the collection.

thanks for the pete’s link, i hadn’t heard of those before, lots of good stuff in there. i had already tried the scale wipe and couldn’t really get it to do what i wanted. smear looks like it could be closer. anyway, thanks for the tip 🙂

thanks yikes for posting that, for a while i woulda sworn people thought i was like associated with pete because i promoted his filter set so often, but it’s got some really cool things for free.

yes petes should have the filter your looking for, and don’t be afraid to combinepetes plugins to do what your looking for or petes and some other filters, who knows. theres a ton of ideas and cool effects.

I really like Pete’s “Kaleidascope”, it can’t do stuff the AE one can’t, very nice.

ya same, (now that we’re slightly off topic) i like the metal image effect, but it’s not clean enough sometimes the edges come up black, and it’s kinda funky sometimes, i like it, and it’s so close for a title sequence im working on (not for a client, though i could use the money) i think i need to give it more time maybe i dunno., bloomk is awsome ait’s just something you gotta go and fiddle with and find your own needs and uses
