Color Space with DVCProHD1080p
Hey all, I’m having a little problem, which could turn into a huge problem for someone else so thought i’d address it now.
Has anyone else had trouble with having your gamma completely screwed up upon output of DVCProHD1080p30 material? We shot a feature with the Panasonic HPX500 which shoots DVCProHD1080p30, when capturing it pulls it back to p24 (this I’m thinking is what is causing the issues) wherein you edit at 23.98.
Everything is fine until we locked picture and used AE to do the compositing work (couple of blue screen shots w/ tracking, tape/boom removal; no big deal). Everything coming from FCP was fine & looked fine in AE. But after outputting the final composite the gamma on these shots are thru the roof. Our easy fix is to just bring the gamma levels back in Color before primary balancing; however i’ve never had this kind of problem with any other codec and was wondering if anyone else has experienced/solved this.
Thx,
