  • ‘Color Space’ Metadata Field In Premiere CC?

Posted by Ben Mullins on October 30, 2013 at 2:31 pm

    Hi,

In Media Composer there is a metadata field that shows the color space of your imported (or AMA linked) video clips. Is there a Premiere CC equivalent as I can’t seem to find one? If not is there a PC-based software equivalent to Metadata Hootenanny that would show this metadata? I’m just interested to know that I am working in the correct colour space the clips were captured in. Any advice is appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Ben.

Premiere Pro is not color-managed. (And here’s the Adobe feature request form [link] if you’d like it to be.) As long as the clips originate in the same space as your output (it’s likely all Rec. 709 for HD video), then the color will be fine.

After Effects is color-managed, though, so you may want to investigate your sources there, and optionally translate them to your output format for Premiere.

    Hi Walter,

Thank you for the response. Could you just clarify what you mean by ‘As long as the clips originate in the same space as your output…’?

    Thanks,

    Ben.
