    Hello all,

Just a quick question. I’m training myself in AVID coming from an FCP background.

Is there any way to create a layer/track of solid black video with timecode like a slug from within Avid Media Composer 2.7.4?

not without a plugin. you can find one on avid’s site but it has to be rendered. I have found it quicker to just capture a burn in at low rez and use a PIP effect. It’s also much easier to just use your deck to lay down the burn in. I loop out of my beta deck into a DVD recorder and turn suer on for this. done.

    Hi Marco,

I am sure that you have found a work around by now, however for others who may be reading this post, one quick work around is simply to use the title tool.

Create a new title, and use the square object tool to create a solid colour that fills the screen.
From there you can enter it on a video track beneath the one you wish to focus upon and even collapse (F9) the too into one clip.

    Nick.
