  • Color solid not appearing in QT export!

    Hey there,

Been racking my brain around this problem for a few days now. In a SD NTSC timeline, I have laid a “color solid” in the timeline on the third video track. On the second track is a freeze frame (from FCP) that has been cropped and resized, and below that is a “color” (a white background). The “color solid” I have laid on top has a cross dissolve on the front end of it. It has been matted to cover a certain area of the frame and is dropped down to 30% opacity. Thus, the “color solid” is being used to highlight text that appears on the layers under it (from the freeze frame).

This seems to work fine when I preview it in FCP. The highlight appears in the canvas and all looks normal BUT when I export it (uncompressed QT) the highlight doesn’t appear. I have tried moving the color solid up and down video tracks to no avail. I have tried substituting the “color solid” for a jpg image (it too doesn’t show up). It’s completely rendered. Why would I be able to see something in the canvas and it not show up in a final QT output. Why isn’t this working!?!? 🙂

I can only figure that it must be some glitch in FCP. Can a color solid not be laid over a “color”? Is the freeze frame throwing me off?

Any ideas, or explanations would be greatly appreciated!

Try deleting your render files and export again.

I am finding myself having the same problem as the original poster.

The color solid, or color, or even a plain white picture displays when I play my timeline, but when I export the video, it doesn’t show.

Basically, I changed the crop on the color solid (it looks like a white bar) and I move it across the screen using keyframing. Like I said, it shows fully rendered, but not in the final output. I have even tried different colors!

    Any suggestions?
