  • Color Shift when using a title

Posted by Arwa Merchant on May 16, 2005 at 5:24 pm

    Hello all
When ever I apply a title on top of an image, the image brightens up about one stop. This happens not just when the playhead is parked on the shot, but also during playback and when I print to tape. I even tried the 3D Titler, and that had the same effect.
Someone suggested that I go to the sequence settings and change the color processing option to YUV 8-bit, which I did, but that didn’t help either.
If anyone knows what the fix to this is, please do let me know. Thank You.
    I am working on a G5, 2GB FCP HD

  • My first thought is that this sounds like a White/Super White issue.

Touch the right-hand Canvas window (to activate the timeline you are working with.)
    Hit “Apple-0 (zero)”
    Click the “Video Processing” tab.

Make sure your Process Maximum White as: is set to “White”
and select “Render in 8-bit YUV”.
    Then re-render your effects.

I did change the option to white and then re-render and still I was having the same problem.

I also have had this problem. The solution I found for my situation was to export the sequence in its native codec… in my case XDCAM EX 720p 23.98 fps. The problem was present if I used Animation or Apple ProRes 422 HQ.

I know that’s not a total solution. Has anyone found any new information on this problem?
