Color shift when focusing diffient focal lengths on heavy lense
The other day I was asked to set up 2 cameras, a Sony D50 & D55 and attach 2 really huge canon lenses. They were the biggest lenses I’ve even seen; somewhere between 12 and 15 inches long and about 8 inches accross not including the lense hood. They each came with a special plate to support the weight of the lenses.
Both lenses locked snugly in their bayonet mounts; but one camera, after being color balanced, seemed to color shift as I changed focal distance. This makes me think the weight of the lense may not have been fully supported causing it to be tipped down slightly?
If anyone knows of some proceedure to set up one of these big lenses and how to prevent this from happening in the future, please fill me in.
