Pretty good. I use them still. I just make sure that I am very visibly below 100 IRE, just to be sure. Can’t afford HD hardward scopes just yet. Awaiting the ones from Decklink.

Nope…pure poppycock. In FCP 3 and 4.5…that might be closer to the truth, but not anymore.

Is that because an external scope is more accurate? But FCP scopes can get the job done.

Hardware, dedicated scopes are always the absolute most accurate you can buy.

That being said, we use only FCP and Color scopes here and have been since 2001. Color’s scopes are especially accurate, moreso that FCP’s, but FCP’s scopes get the job done. We’ve delivered well over 100 HD broadcast masters and 200 SD masters using only the software scopes and not a single QC rejection due to levels.
