  • Color sampling via Boris Title 3D not working

Posted by Jeff Gerst on March 30, 2010 at 3:03 pm

Not sure if I’m doing something wrong – If I’m in Boris Title 3D & I use the eyedropper to sample a color in my video, it displays the color values but does not save them.

Shouldn’t I be able to click on the color and then have that value saved for my color choice? The way it works now is I have to put the eyedropper on the color, then remember the values and physically type them in – surely this is not the easiest way. Am I missing a function key when sampling the color or something?

    Thx!

Are you sampling an image within the FCP interface?

It seems to work fine sampling a color or image within the FCP interface but I get the behavior described sampling something not in FCP.

Yes – I am sampling colors in the FCP interface. I see the values in the boxes, but they change when I move the cursor. Is there some way to “select” them & capture those values so I don’t have to retype?

    Thx

What version of FCP are you using, OS version, etc.?

Anything in the FCP interface works for me so I need more details on your system.

It looks like in FCP 6/7 it will only sample from the Boris Title 3D text window.

In earlier versions it looks like it works.

I’ll try to look into this for you.

    Jeff,

Unfortunately Title 3D has been out of development for years.

I’m not sure if we will make any changes to it.

I’ll keep you posted though if I hear anything else.

    Matt –

OK – thx for looking into that.

OK so our color chooser won’t work outside the window but there is a way to use the system color picker.

Click on the style color and it opens the system color chooser.

Click the magnifying glass and you should then be able to choose any area of the screen.
