[fabio mereghetti] “Does the Vegas built-in multicamera editing work the same?”

Yes, it works the same way. This is why I said it was impossible.

I’ll give you an analogy… Let’s say you were at a party and you were drinking wine and a friend was drinking beer and another was drinking whiskey. Then you decide there can only be one drink so you poor the wine, beer, and whiskey into a single glass… do you think any one of you will get the drink you wanted? That’s the same thing as taking the track FX from multiple tracks and placing them on a single track. You won’t get the same effect because they will be combined together to produce something new.

[fabio mereghetti] “Is there a way to apply (and edit) the same fx settings to multiple events at once?”

You can place the effects on one event and then use Copy and select the other events and use Paste Attributes. Note that this will paste all of the events attributes not just FX and it will add the effects to any that already exist so it won’t replace.

You can also use a tool like VASST Ultimate S Pro to apply FX chains to multiple events with one click.

I imagine that inside Vegas, at some level, each event is something like a single record in a database (Autocad docet). If it is like that, each effect in the event or track fx would be just a property (or a bunch of properties) of that record.
In the end, isn’t what we call “folder” just a property of all the files in that forlder?

So, the “create master track” that, I imagine, splits and copies the events according to the markers, could add to each created event, the original event fx and the track fx too. Maybe, with the ability for the user to choose this behaviour or not.

But I’m not a programmer so, this mine is just a candid vision and a wish.

Probably it would take some more thousand lines of code to get something like that.

Anyway, if you have many clips taken indoor with constant light conditions you will have to set the levels and color balance for each of them. Yes, I know there are many tools that would let you easily select multiple events and apply effect presets to them with one click, but thay doesn’t tell you anything about the FXs already present in the events so you could end up in having to look into each event fx container to be sure of what you are applying.

    ———-

In a single monitor setup like mine, the inability to see through a “calibrated” screen would prevent me to color correct or balance my videos. So I’m stuck with 10.

In a “poor” setup like mine (single core 3GBram etc) both 10 and 11 crashes and are unable to open a project I have just saved.

Vegas 9 works fine with a similar project (copied clips, markers, regions, ecc.) with no crashes. So I’m stuck with 9.

    Thanks. (Sorry for the length).

That is exactly what could be done but unfortunately, Vegas Pro doesn’t allow this.

The minimal specs for Vegas Pro have been a Dual Core for a long, long, time so your single core is under spec and you should really consider an upgrade if you are serious about video editing or go back to a version of Vegas that only required a single core (maybe Vegas 6 or 7?).

Probably you are right about my PC specs.

But I made some test on a Dell laptop (Vostro 1710) that lists a CPU Intel Core Duo T9300 2,5GHz with 3GB ram at 772 MHz and with a NVIDIA GE Force 8600M GS with only 256MB of ram, and the problems are the same. Win XP pro 32bit.

So, for now I reverted to v9.0e and everything is OK: no problem in saving the project and no problem in rendering the ouput.

I think for my amatorial work I can live without OFX.
The only thing is I was thinking to go on a double display setup, at least for the multicam editing and color correction and v9 does not let me see the chosen cam at full screen on the external monitor display as the v10 would, right? Any known workaround?

And also, I would like to know what causes the problems.

    Boh!?

    Thanks.
