I’m working in Premiere Pro CC 2014.1 using a Matrox MX02 mini that is connected via Thunderbolt to my Mac Pro. The MX02 mini is sending a signal through HDMI to my Sony LMD-2110W monitor which I use for color grading. I know this is an entry level broadcast monitor but we are a two person company and this was the only broadcast monitor within our budget.

The issue that I’ve been running into lately is that a majority of our content (wedding videos, marketing videos, etc) will end up on Vimeo and it often looks very different than what I see either in the Premiere Pro program monitor or my Sony LMD monitor. It tends to look less saturated and the highlights and shadows look much different.

A while ago I read someone’s post saying that when adjusting color in the Premiere Pro program monitor, it will always look a little different than after you export it an view it in either Quicktime or on Vimeo . This is part of the reason why I purchased the MX02 mini and the Sony LMD monitor. However, it seems like I am often watching the video once it’s posted to Vimeo and then having to note where I need to go back and make adjustments. Does anyone know why this is happening and how it can be resolved? I would be interested if there is a way to calibrate my Sony monitor so that what I see on Vimeo is much closer than how it is now.

    Thanks!

I don’t think you need to adjust the monitor but the MXO and create a custom setup there for grading for WEB.

You should then be able to recall that setup whenever you like.

Base it on a few reference images: maybe inside and outside shots, daytime, night time.

if you can get it to the point that what you see on the Sony THRU the MXO is close to the viewer experience getting when you encode and view on CPU monitor, phone or tablet…then you should be good.

That sounds like a great solution, I’ll work on that this week!

    Thanks!
