I am setting up color correction for a feature length project on Color Finesse through AE. Could use any tips, but here is the workflow I have so far:
the project is uncompressed 10-bit 90 minutes, SDI captured through a post house
I have a RAID installed to handle the large files
the color correction will be previewed through a Blackmagic Decklink/HD Link connected monitor

My biggest concern is importing the raw video files into AE and exporting the finished ones. What settings do I need on both import and export to assure that my 10 bit 23.98 fps files don’t lose any quality on their way out of the program?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Can you preview Color Finesse via Decklink ..? How did you set that up ?

Yes, you can preview through Decklink but you need to also get Synthetic Aperture’s Echo Fire Software (it can be configured for Decklink), and let that be your main preview solution for AE. This creates an output device that the Color Finesse UI can use as well.

just turn on decktop feature in preference pane of decklink and turn off video preview to decklink in aftereffect, and CF will be able to preview.

Thanks to all: and Jorje thanks so much – that works a treat.

Realtime color finesse preview on decklink without having to buy echofire – I feel dumb not to have tried before, but when it didn’t preview when AE had the preview output I assumed it just wasn’t workable …

    Thanks again.
