Could someone please point me to a good guide for working in 8 bit vs 16 bit for broadcast in SD and HD. I want to make sure that I am delivering the best possible results to my clients. I have switched my project from 8 to 16, and back to 8, and all the colors changed.. made a big mess of things for me. Can somoene point me to a good tutorial or article that can sort this out for me?

I deliver using either Black Magic or the Animation Codec

[Dave LaRonde] “only to render to DV and are shocked that it doesn’t look as good as it once did.”

It shouldn’t look significantly worse than it does in AE. The display of 32bpc colors in AE is still limited to your display’s color depth, which is generally 8bpc.

The major downside of working in 32bpc in my opinion is the long render time and more restrictive memory requirements… If not for those I would use it every time 🙂
