June 27, 2007 at 3:37 amAlong with adding effects, you can also duplicate layers of the same video on top of each other changing the transfer modes (overlay, add, multiply, soft light, etc…) and adjusting the transparency of the layers to enhance various qualities, darken the dark areas keeping your highlights, etc…
Or you can get Andrew Kramer’s “Film Magic Pro” AE presets from his website. https://www.videocopilot.net/fmp.html

June 27, 2007 at 7:59 amYou can definitely achieve a similar look in After Effects, and, with enough time, you can get very close to the same colors and effects in that video. They’re selectively color grading areas (primaries and secondaries) among other effects such as tracking the headlights, fake mountains, etc. I spent about an hour and came up with this:

It’s not an exact copy of their video obviously, but it’s a similar “night” type of shot that I think you’re looking for. (The shot I corrected is on the right in the above video). To achieve this type of look, color grade using levels, hue / saturation and color balance. Sometimes adjusting levels or other color correction tools affect areas that you’d rather not adjust. In that case, duplicate your layer and mask off the area you’d like to adjust. There’s lots of ways to do this. Lots of color correction tools not mentioned and other techniques.
Hope that helps,
Scott
