  • Color Correction doesn’t work

Okay, this is wierd. On an AVID Express Pro, for a while color correction worked as expected. Then, all of a sudden it doesn’t work.

    The problems:

    1. The tripple monitor will show nothing but current, past, and previous frames. If I set it to any of the technical monitors like wave forms of parrades, etc. It shows me the current frame instead. The title of the monitor might show RGB Parrade, but the picture is the same thing that is in the “current” window.

    2. If I make a change to a setting, say satuation, I cannot see it in the center window, even though it is set to current view.

    3. the output of my analogue mojo is black and white, even thought the footage is color. However, on boot, it shows the correct, full color, MOJO logo. It is only after the project loads that the output is black and while.

I have swaped mojos, and both boxes do the same thing, so I am realitivly sure that is not the problem.

These three symptoms may or may not be related.

It is well possible that I have fogoten about some fundimental setting or step or have something setup wrong.

Any help would be appriciated. I know I have used this machine to properly do cc before.

    Thanks

If you didn’t change anything in your setup and now this funkiness happens, delete your user settings, your MCState and create new user settings. Tell us if it still is problematic.

I meant to mention that I had already trashed the preferances and that didn’t work. However, on your advice I trashed MC State and that fixed symptom one and two. I still have black and white out of the mojo, so that looks like a seperate issue. that won’t block my CC since I am not trying anything critical. I am just rough matching cameras to each other, not trying for a broadcast picture (not that I have that great a monitor hooked up.

Any further thoughts on the b/w monitor issue would be appricated, but for now I can work again.

    Thanks big time.

Okay, I know you are aware of this, but I have to ask….is your video output set correctly within Avid? It sometimes randomly goes back to composite or s-video, etc. Deleting the MCState, etc. sometimes takes care of that.

If that’s not it, which Mojo are you using? The analog Mojo? Are your cables correct? Are your cables good? Did you change cables when you changed Mojos? What output are you using: composite, component, s-video or SDI?

    Had to ask. 🙂

Thanks for the help Joe. I am not 100% sure inside express where to set the video output to S or composite or whatever. I have checked the video display setting but it has none of those options. I originally thought it looked like a component/composite problem but couldn’t find a way to change it so I assumed all ouputs from the mojo were active. It is an Analogue mojo.

Currently, I am using an S-Video cable, but I have also tried composite. It could be the cable, or it could be the monitor, I did not switch cables in the test. The S-Video is black and white, the composite doesn’t show much video at all… Kinda looks like really bad reception with mostly black and torn sync signals in the image.

    Mark,

    Select Tools > Video Output.

    The Video Output tool opens.

Click the Output menu, and select an output format:

    – Component

    – Composite

    – SVideo

This only works if you have a Mojo or Mojo SDI hooked up.

Yep… That was it… I thought there was a tool like that. I was just looking in the settings and couldn’t find it.

It’s things like this that make me wish I spent more time editing. I can pass the ACSR class all the way through interplay and I still dont know the basic 101 interface things. (But I know what the crock and the odile are and where to find the firebase card.) Oh well.

Thanks so much for the help.
