    Hi there,

I’m in the process of making my first short film, shot on DVC Pro HD 1080p and am close to the color correction and grading phase.

I have access to Apple Color although am aware of problems using an external monitor via firewire in that it cannot be done with Color, is this correct?

I also have access to Adobe After FX and so see my options as either Final Cut Pro or After FX. Is either one favoured for color management? Would either enable me to see the true HD footage on an external monitor?

I’m pretty sure that there aren’t any other video packages around right now that have a color managed workflow as robust as After Effects. Although, from the rest of your post it sounds like you mean color correction when you say color management?

As for seeing true HD footage on an external monitor, that would require an HD monitor, of course, and an interface card, but AE should be able to do that.
