Is precision in color correction independent of bit depth?

I read a post from a couple of months back stating that only the color space should be considered.

So, if I had HDCAM 8-bit material blown up to uncompressed, there is no point going to 10-bits instead of 8-bits, as long as I’m in 4:2:2 color space? Is this true? Or does bit depth make a difference in simple and small color correction at all?

My RAID is doing 350MB/s, so I perfer to stick with 8-bits rather than approaching the limit by going 10-bits.

350MB/s is plenty for 10 bit. Bit depth affects grey scale resolution so if you are adjusting white/ black or gamma levels, then bit depth matters.
