    Shoot at night.
    Shadows alone will give you away.
    Static scenics can get away with crushed blacks and lots of blues but any talking heads tend to look like a modern day Clash of the Titans to me. Pretty sure that shot those night scenes at high noon on a cloudless day.

    Lots of tricks here, but the most important is to shoot it right.

    The biggest problem area here is the sky. If the shooter avoided the sky, you are golden.

    Lower the luminance level, desaturate the color, and give it a blue tint in the gamma. Then crush the blacks to your discretion.

    Semi-useless fact for the day. Earth is one of the few places in the universe that you can get away with this. The reason is that the sun and the moon are essentially the same size of light source to us. This is why the shadows on a moonlit night are the same as a sunny day… minus the color of course.
