Well guys, I have some fixes to make before this program gets out of my computer. I have some real issues with some run and gun interviews that we did where the lighting provided some very bad shadows. On some of the interviews I am going to use the VO under the other as thats an accepted method but on a couple of these I have to use the shot. Is there a protocol in color correction in FCP where I can reduce the shadows on the face but retain the integrity of the clip’s color. This is an area where my young editor lacks experience as I do. Any suggestions?

You might want to try to get Magic Bullet Colorista, you can do color correction just to a certain area.

    hmm… I wonder what this button does…

What you need is to make two different CC, one for the full image and one for the face. Colorista can do it because you can work with masks. Color do it as well.
And there is a free plugin “Face light” that is very useful to do that too. Look in Google for the “Marcus plugins”

Upload a full frame sample and I could do a test in FT / Color.

Lyric Image Conrol has a plug in called Shadow-Highlight. It’s sort of slow on the renders, but it helps brighten up areas of shadow without blowing out the lighter areas.

Forgot to mention, I think it’s free and easy to use.

Sorry I did not get back with you as I had to go out and finish a shoot. Today is my bday, so I am going to try and stay away from the machine. That said, can I call you on Monday same bat time same bat channel?
