Color Correcting Advice on FCP 5.1.4
Need to be taught how to wish on this one. I got some 11am-1pm shots that I think look good- except the face – I tried a plugin called FaceLight, but did not do any good. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can make these shot work instead of going and doing a re-shoot? Thanks for your schooling!
Also snapshots of what you do would rock!

Well, if you had examples to show us, that would be something. But 11AM to 1PM…not much light change there…

As noted in a similar post a few days ago, you night try Lyric Shadow/Highlight filter. It’s a free plugin. I’ve used it numerous times and it works pretty well. Try Googling it.

OK..those I see.
Now…what’s wrong? The shadows switching sides of the face? Well, that is due to the direction your talent is facing. Nothing major there. It would be nice if you had a bounce card on set to fill in the dark side, but …whatever. COLOR allows you to isolate the face and add more fill. As does Colorista. And you can layer shots, use the garbage mattes and the 3-way…

I’m still on Final Cut Studio 1 – Final Cut Pro 5.1.4 – So no Color program option. NOW that said. The free plugin mentioned above worked fine. It’s just applied to the entire shot and would not let me matte of a certain spot – ie, the face. oh well – And I still get the green check mark, so that is good –

Lyric shadow highlight followed by facelight, plus watch the Limit effect 3 Way CC tutorial that Richard Harrington did here at the COW (search is your friend).
I have rescued worse with a combination of all these plugins and techniques.
