Color coded tabs
Posted by David Roche on August 11, 2009 at 3:41 pmApple claims that in FCP 7, you can color-code tabs in the browser to help distinguish between projects (when you have multiple projects open) – https://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/whats-new.html#finalcutpro
That sounds like a great idea. Anybody figure it out yet? I can’t find any reference to it at all in FCP help.

August 11, 2009 at 3:50 pmRight-click on the sequence in the Browser and apply a label. The tab in Timeline and the Canvas will be colored.
Close other tabs. Another simple but excellent feature in the new version.
All the best,
Tom

August 11, 2009 at 4:34 pmIn the browser window, if you label your sequence a particular color, the tab in the timeline window will show up as green, purple, etc.
I’ve actually been working with color labels like this for a few days and it’s pretty handy. I daresay my favorite new little feature is being able to select a clip in the timeline, do a Command T and have it do the default transition at both ends of the clip (same for command option T for audio transitions). Amazingly useful for graphics.

August 11, 2009 at 5:16 pmThanks Tom and Nicole. I’m glad it’s so straightforward! 🙂
Nicole, Command T is the best feature for me so far! Thanks for pointing it out to us. The programs that I produce have a ton of lower third graphics. This ought to considerably speed up my editing.

September 8, 2010 at 5:14 pmIt would be great if those color-coded tabs would transfer to the tabs in the Browser window. I will have 16 projects open at once and it will be hard to read the titles in the browser window.
Anyone know of a way to match tab colors from the Timeline to the Browser window?
