Hi all …. I’ve just brought an eps into AE (don’t know where it originated) and AE has changed the color quite dramatically so I then opened the eps in pshop converted it to a psd and saved it and the colour looked a little better …. certainly the color values matched what they were in pshop … but just to double check I opened it in Illustrator and the RGB readings are different …. can anyone tell me hwere this change is happening ie what I see colour wise in Illustrator I’d like to see on Pshop and AE and I don’t think I’ve changed any profiles …. thanks for your time … Roger

    Hi,

Is the eps file in CMYK color?

I’ve run into this sort of problem before and I too have not been able to find an adequate solution. What I have ended up doing for projects where I need to keep specific colors (corporate logos and such) I have created a spreadsheet of the hex and RGB values, taking the data from the color picker of either Photoshop or Illustrator and then confirming the proper color in AE after bringing in the file.

i’ve had trouble with keeping consistent colour between Illustrator and AE as well. You may want to check wether the file has a colour profile associated with it and if it does, disable it, and perhaps disable colour management in illustrator altogether. Now if the colours have shifted when you threw out the colour profile, shift them back again in illustrator to something that comes as close as possible to how it’s supposed to look and then import into AE.
As far as i understand it, colour profiling/management is only used for print purposes or moving files between different devices (scanner/computer/printer).

Thanks both to Lars and Michiel … this all sounds a bit flaky and non scientific … I wouldn’t have spotted this change in colour had I not known what the colour should have been … in the wrong situation I could have ended up with a very angry client … so I guess there’s no solution .? …thanks for your time .. Roger
