Color challenge with multiple stills
Greetings!
I am working on a piece where I am editing/animating about 500 stills to music. The problem is that all the pictures come from different sources, so the colors (and brightness, contrast, etc) look different. For instance, several pictures are of snow-covered mountains, and in some pictures the snow looks very blue, while in others it looks more true white or even pinkish. I know I can correct each individual picture either in Photoshop or in AE, but that would be very time-consuming. So I wish there was an easy way to do a common correction (adjustment layer?)to make all the pics look more similar. Even if they just looked a little bit more similar, and not neccesary perfectly matched, it would help me. The budget for this project doesn’t allow for individual tweaking. Is there maybe a plugin that can help with this? Or is this just wishful thinking..?

Have you tried the Auto color/ Auto Contrast/ Auto Brightness effects in AE 6.5? Assuming there is always one perfectly white and one perfectly black pixel in your image they work quite well.

Or to avoid AE rendering the color correction on every still again and again, you could do a batch in Photoshop using AutoLevels. It should get you a decent starting point and it hardly takes any of your time.
