I’m trying to maintain continuity between the brightness of a red on text in Photoshop and Illustrator and the rendered C4D animation or still frame. I’ve been working in Cinema for over two years but this sticking point has come up often and I don’t have an answer for it. I get the same RGB values in Photoshop and the Color channel of a Material in C4D but the rendered red (in this case) is much darker and lighting the scene only serves to wash out the red, not brighten it. I tried adding the Luminance channel to no avail but I’ll bet there’s a very simple solution I’m just not seeing.

You’ll get the exact same color if you use *only* the luminance channel, but of course you’ll lose all shading in that case.
