    Hey everyone!

I’m editing a dance performance for a client and the most unusual problem popped up. When I color corrected the footage it looked beautiful, and just what I need. However, when I render it, suddenly the footage looks blown-out and much different. What’s happening? I’m using cannon T3i footage. I’ve been using my T3i for 3 years and this problem has never come up. Sort of need help ASAP, the client needs this project soon.

    Thanks!

FCP doesn’t like working with H.264 footage…the raw files the Canon DSLRs shoot. The issues that happen are random and unpredictable. What worked before won’t work again. Most common is sync issues, but this is among the issues of what can happen.

Footage MUST be converted to ProRes before you edit. If you want to edit native, without converting, you need to look at Adobe Premiere Pro….or FCX. Although FCX still prefers to “optimize” to ProRes.
