    Hi,

I’m new here. I signed up specifically because this issue has been bugging me no end.

I’m an animator, and I’m using After Effects CS3 with swf vectors to create a project at resolution of 640 x 360. I want to later blow this up to HD by placing the 640 x 360 comp into a 1920 x 1080 comp and then finally rendering. This I am doing so that I can spend less machine time previewing and animating at a lower resolution.

This of course does not result in any quality loss, as by using the “Continuously Rasterize” option in the new comp, the swf vectors appear as sharp and clear as in the smaller comp.

The problem I’m having is with using a camera and 3d layers. This works fine for previews in the smaller comp, but when I want to enlarge it (as I’ve stated above), the new comp does not have any of the camera properties of the smaller one.

So my question is this – is it possible to transfer the camera properties from the smaller comp (640 x 360) to the larger comp (1920 x 1080) for final rendering?

This would solve a lot of my problems and would help me work faster as well.

    Many thanks in advance,
    Rohit Iyer

I would recommend working at your final pixel dimensions at a lower resolution (third quality would give you what you want) instead of this approach. You are making things much more difficult for yourself.

    Hi Jason,

Thanks for your response. You’re probably right – what you suggest is the best way to work. I’ve only been doing some tests before actually starting production on the project and this idea got me a bit excited.

I’m still sure there must be a way though. Its one of those irritating “What if…?” type situations.

But I guess you can’t have your cake and eat it too! 😉

    Cheers,
    Rohit Iyer
