Collapse Transformation issue
Hello there!
I have a problem on the going project and hope I could find some help here.Here it is:
I have this shot with bunch of stuff going on. On the foreground I have user interface (4 boxes in the corners) on “soft light” blending mode. To approach this look I have to use “Collapse Transformation” turned on. It would be ok, but I can’t use effects on those layers – and this is a problemCould you suggest any solution so I can:
1) in master comp see blending modes of layers in the pre-comps
2) use effects in that pre-comps (I need an Optics Compensation in this case)Deeply sorry for my English and thank you for attention!

apply the effect in each and every layer of the pre comp, since they are shape layers, it will behave exactly as if you would apply to an adjustment layer or the precomp.

Unfortunately, when im trying to use effect on each layer, it seems like the whole pre-comp loose brightness. Do you know how to fix this?
You can see this happening on the screenshot in the right bottom corner

the optics compensation effects does nothing to opacity or color, so i’m not sure what it is you’re experiencing.
Maybe you can change how your colors interact with one another inside the pre comp(to better match what you’re after), remove the collapse outside, apply the effect to the precomp and set its blend mode to soft light.

thanks, that might be helpful.
Now I’m going with effect on each layer and fixed brightness & contrast.
It’s very similar to what you suggested, but in that case easier because of very complex illustrations.Thank you again!

Keep in mind too, when using transfer/blend styles other than “normal”, you will get a different result when there is no background layer. Just having your comp have a black background in the comp preferences will have a different look to using a black solid at the bottom of the layer stack. With no true layer background there is nothing to do the math on.
